Something a little different?

Rather than my usual illustrations, i decided to post one of my recent photo manipulations. It's looks a bit gory but i like it.
The photo is not of my hand but of my friend Emily (Arithusa) from DeviantART.

Posterific!

This month i finished 2 assignments that to me were really fun to do; one of them was a pretty flexible project that i could do almost anything for i just had to follow the brief and theme, and the other was a little more restricted to the brief and the object of the brief (this one took me quite a while to finish and sometime became a royal pain in my !@#$).

This is my entry and assignment for the Adelaide Fringe Arts Festival

Billboard Poster for an assignment, is supposed to advertise the Wurlitzer jukebox.

TAFE Update #1

Today I will be looking for a few different case studies on Australian designers to do research on; 20th century designer, contemporary/practising designer, and a small design company.

So far i have 2 people i have found that i find interesting, one of them i can't use because they are from America but the they're still pretty cool:

  • Jeremyville (sydney, Australia)
  • Massive Black Studio (San francisco)
This research is all lead up for me and my groups end of year project where we get to design our own stuff and try and sell them at an event called the "Art Bazaar".

The Art Bazaar is a unique exhibition and collecting platform that has identified an unmet need for emerging or unrepresented artists to further their careers in the seemingly impenetrable New York art market.

Established in 2009 by New York gallerist Michael Lyons Wier as a response to the limited amount of exhibition opportunities available to artists in New York City, The Art Bazaar was envisioned as a "grass roots initiative", providing artists with a unique opportunity to promote and sell their work.

Under Lyons Wier's tutelage, The Art Bazaar network has grown exponentially, helping many of its participants find new representation and exhibition opportunities throughout the City. Since its founding, The Art Bazaar has also hosted and curated Art Bazaar artists in high profile art fairs such as Fountain Art Fair and the Affordable Art Fair in New York.

Through The Art Bazaar, artists interact with the public and sell work directly to collectors. To date, The Art Bazaar has exhibited over 400 artists, generated nearly $100,000 in sales and continues to attract artists and collectors regionally, nationally and internationally.

I'm hoping that we can work things out and produce something that is a HUGE success!! ^_^

Well i have to get back to work, but i'll catch you later on the next entry...

3 Drawings in a Day!

Fan art for my favourite web comic "Miskui"

A picture i did of little red riding hood walking towards a tree. it was originally going to just be a practice drawing trees exercise but i turned it into an actual picture.

This is third drawing i started this weekend but haven't finished yet so it's a WIP (work in progress) until i find time to get it finished.

I''m on a role! i finished 2 1/2 drawings today and got a lot of good feed back from people in the internet and my friends viewing them on facebook. I like the last one which i am currently working on because it has a deeper meaning to it than any other drawing i have ever drawn but the meaning shall remain a mystery to those outside my daily life. While doing these sketches i figured out that Corel Painter is my favourite program for doing under sketches, because it actually makes my drawings look like they are in traditional pencil. it has nice traditional effects that i can use when i want to make something that looks more traditional but want to do it on the computer.

Speed Drawing #3

Lookie! Lookie!! a new speed drawing video for you to watch, rate and comment about!
^_^

This one is of another artist's (IllusionsDreams) character named Tobari. I thought i might give drawing another person's character a try for once. And i am really proud of this! Please tell me what you think, and remember to be honest, i can take the criticism.

Time it took to draw: 1hr 34mins
Music: Naturally By Ayumi Hamasaki

Holidays! and i wasted the first day of it....

Ok, so tonight i'm a bit happy and a bit pissed. The reason i'm happy is that i am on a 3 week holiday from more assignments, and am almost up to date with everything just a cityscape drawing and some billboard research to finish off by monday morning. But the reason i am pissed is because today i wasted the whole day away sleeping instead of doing something productive like my assignments or my own drawings and projects for a change.

Oh well i'm going to try and work on some of my billboard research tonight to make up for some of the time i lost. So wish me luck!

Above is the recent assignment i finished for last term of my tafe course. very proud of my work! i had to make an assemblage out of recycled stuff and then photograph the assemblage and put the photographs together into a poster and cd cover  of my fav band. i chose, as you can see, Duel Jewel.

Any way thought i just might write in tonight and express my feelings to you all! Hope next entry will be a bit more positive. ^_^

I'm Ninja & Kilplix Rules! XD

I'm a ninja! ^_^

Hey Guys!

Today is Tuesday, 7th of June, and tonight i am taking a break before having to get into heavy work tomorrow. TAFE has given me assignments up to my neck this term (4 assignments) and they are all due over the next 3 weeks. T_T So you can only imagine how tired i am of doing all these assignments... BUT! do become a designer/ illustrator/ manga artist, this course must be done and passed. So i am going to give it my all and try to finish as much as i can (hopefully finish everything) by the due dates!

Wish me luck guys! I'll need it....

Anyway, besides assignments what else have i been up to...

  • Me, my friends, Keish and Erica finished and presented our colour theory presentation on PURPLE!

  • SUPANOVA and SMASH!; 2 of Australia's BEST conventions that i have been to, are coming up in 2 weeks and 6 weeks from today. Me and my friends are soooo excited we are jumping for joy!
  • Found out how much i really want to play Left 4 Dead 2, as well as Left 4 Dead just by watching this guy Kilplix (Austin) and his friends playing it on gameplay videos. I seriously suggest you check him out on youtube if you haven't already! ^_^
Chargers really seem to love Kilplix (Austin)

OK! Well that's all i have to report so far,  just thought i might post on my blog just so you followers didn't think i had abandoned my blog, because i haven't. Like i said earlier i've just been really busy...

See you later and good fortune to you all!

Quick/Random Sketches!

Just a couple of quick sketches of my gaia characters that i have made from gaia online (top left: Ren, right side of page: Sakura Bell, and bottom left: Leo).

I know i probably should have been doing my assignments but for some reason my mind, body and soul just weren't up to doing the work today. But i'll definitely make time to do it tomorrow (Sunday). Look forward to seeing more random sketches like these in the near future. ^_^

Best Game Ever!!

Not feeling well today... i have a bit of an upset stomach, but with a bit of a rest today, i should be as right as rain tomorrow. ^_^ (Unfortunately i will be missing TAFE today, and that i am not so happy about... DX)

However!

This weekend me and my friend Keish played the best game ever (in our books any way) "Left 4 Dead" which is basically a game about these 4 survivors trying to survive and escape a zombie/infected apocalypse. You can either play this game on your own or have 3 other friends join you in trying to survive each campaign. When you have 4 friends with you, each one of you gets to choose 1 of 4 survivors; Zoey, Francis, Bill, and Louis. Each of them have their own special and unique thing to say, so if you ever play the game listen carefully when the characters say something because quite a few of them will make you laugh. Oh yeah, also if you play the game don't just rush to the next safe room/ level, look around a bit, the writings on the walls are really funny as well.

Another discovery i made this weekend was the anime for another good game called "Devil May Cry" even though i haven't played it myself, i know it is a good game from word of mouth and YouTube and cannot wait for a chance to play it.

Any way, i thought just now before posting this blog, that i should share this particular discovery with you and will post a few of the episodes for you to watch here, or heck maybe all of them but just a few for now.

Of course they will be separate to this post to keep everything neat, tidy and organised.

HOPE and Pray for Japan!!!

みなさん、こんにちは! (Hello Everyone!)

"Tens of thousands were unaccounted for and whole towns wiped off the map as the full horror of Japan's "super-earthquake". Fears were made by a massive explosion on that Saturday morning at a nuclear reactor, 160 miles north-east of Tokyo. Seawater was being pumped into the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in an attempt to cool the radioactive core, while 90,000 people were evacuated within a 12-mile radius.
Local authorities reported that almost 10,000 people out of a population of 17,000 - were missing from the fishing port of Minamisanriku, which was engulfed by huge waves that swept the inland for six miles. The earthquake was so powerful that Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology said the Earth's axis shift 9.8 in [25cm]. The US Geological survey said that the main island of Japan had moved 7.8ft [2.4m].
Aerial photographs showed that Minamisanriku had been destroyed by Friday's tsunami, its flattened houses covered in a thick layer of mud and debris.
Other towns along the north-east coast of Honshu island, including the city of Sendai, which has a population of more than one million, bore testament to the devastating power of the 8.9-magnitude earthquake and the resulting tsunami." - Quoted from an article by Robert Mendick in London and Julian Ryall in Iwaki.

As one of my favourite places in the whole world this news devastated me, and for quite some time now i have been trying to think of something to draw as tribute to Japan. So here it is:

My inspiration was from searching the internet and finding this site of all these cosplayers with signs similar to this, and i thought they were really cute and that sort of thing would suit my style very well [Prayers From Cosplayers]. The Lucky cat in the middle is actually a drawing of the lucky cat plushie i have myself. And down in the bottom left corner is a picture of me as a chibi praying that Japan pulls itself up from this massive disaster.

"Japan i love you so much, please get better soon all my prayers go out to you and your people! And to everyone who is reading this please join me in 日本のために祈ること! (praying for japan!)"

Well i'm signing off for now, please don't hesitate to comment or follow my blog!

さようなら今のところ! (Goodbye for now!)

April Holidays at last!!!

"Egg Boys" Please don't say it looks like kirby because my friend, Keish, already said that. XD

Hey followers!

Sorry i haven't posted anything in a while i've been sooo busy with TAFE work that i have harrdly had anytime time to write or do any pictures for this blog. So here i am typing my first post of April 2011, with a new picture for you all to see. I call them the "Egg Boys", i think they are soooo cute! i did them in the middle of computer class using the mesh tool. And before you go asking "why was doing this in my computer class?" We were actually being taught about the mesh tool the whole lesson, so i decided to put what we were learning into practice via my own little exercise. Tell me what do you think? are they awesome or what? ^_^

So anyway as the title suggests, it is the April holidays and i am sooo happy because that will allow me some time to myself and my own drawings.

Things i plan on doing this holidays:
  1. Draw at least 10 major drawings for my blog or deviantART
  2. Read at least 5 books
  3. Buy at least one game: The sims Medieval, Pokemon Black/White, Tron: Legacy, Final fantasy Crisis Core.
  4. Finish or move further in at least 2 games: Final fantasy X, Final Fantasy Dirge of Cerebus, Kingdom Hearts BBS

Little Red Riding Hood

A tribute to the new Little Red Riding Hood movie coming out!
Initially i actually used this for one of my friends birthday cards but i think it would also be an excellent addition to my blog and as a special feature tribute to the new Little Red Riding Hood movie, which i am DYING to see! Because it looks AWESOME!!

And yes i know it was done by the creators of Twilight but i definitely have high hopes for this movie!

I was going to have a daily doodle post but at the moment i'm a bit busy for one of those and i don't know whether i'd be able to keep it up. But i'll still post my occasional small doodle from time to time for you guys to see. ^_^

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARLIE!!!

Hey Guys!!!

This weekend i went to my friend Carlie's 20th birthday (blog special: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CARLIE!!!) it was awesome! There was dancing, the meeting of new friends, a trippy light show, and lots and lots of photos. XD

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARLIE!

Carlie's delicious birthday cake

A Birthday Comic of me making my friends present in time for her party.

At TAFE in my course last week we were working on GRUNGE typography, illustrator exercises, still life drawing, high/low key in digital photography, research of contemporary designers and the exploration of colour.
GRUNGE

Left: This is an exercise that our teacher got us to do on illustrator, where we had to make a different and grungy sort of font from 3 already existing fonts. The top 3 are the already existing ones and the bottom grunge word and the 2 letters below it are the results of my experimentation for this exercise.

Right: These 2 images are  from an exercise in photoshop, where we had to make not the font grungy but spaces inside the font , and maybe also the background. The top one shows both inside of the font and background looking a bit grungy and the bottom one shows just the inside of the font looking grungy.

Grunge font done by hand rather than on the computer.

It was fun! and we got to pretty much go CRAZY and use what ever we wanted too make the text look as grungy as possible.

And of my own projects this what i am working on at the moment:

My DNAngel drawing still coming along slowly & MY Prates & Ninja spot the difference picture is almost finished and ready for my to start making it into a "spot the difference".  XD

Well, i hope you guys had fun viewing and reading my latest entry and please look forward to seeing me posting more! ^_^

An Awesome Karaoke Party!

Yesterday (Saturday) i finally finished the video i was making out of last years SUPANOVA convention photos and i must say i am pretty proud of myself. Me, keish and Carlie (Friends) all had a wicked time there and i got to meet my fav voice actor from my fav anime VIC MIGNOGNA!! i am a huge vic mignogna fan, that almost instantly i can tell its his voice when it comes up. The interesting thing is, even before i realise it's him playing that character, those characters he plays are usually my favourite.

ok i can't figure out what's wrong with the video so instead here is something creative i made the other day, i was feeling apologetic (still am a little - but i won't say why) and creative at the same time. So this was the result:

Also yesterday, i was busy getting ready to go out to my sister's karaoke party, which was heaps of fun! Even though i only got sing a couple of songs (the tide is high - Blondie & We are the Champions - Queen), i had fun meeting everyone and enjoying their singing. Almost everyone sang and we were all laughing with each other, and everyone had quite a few drinks throughout the night (even me - just 3 midori and lemonades). Most of all everyone had fun, and my sister "Natasha" should be congratulated for  being a great host and birthday girl at this event.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIS!!!
I love you so much, thanks for inviting me to your awesome party!!

Good Luck Maria Tran, in your Quest for Jackie Chan!!!

Tonight i went to the loft in town, and had another Inzine meeting about the current upcoming Inzine, and talked about the things i still have to submit for it. Which are a review on the best ninja game in the world (my opinion) "Red Ninja" and a drawing for a pirate and ninja spot the difference.

After the meeting, me and the other members went ahead watched a movie made by Maria Tran, who is currently doing a project to find and meet Jackie Chan. This picture included in this post is dedicated to her quest. It is a chibi of the legendary kung fu comedy actor himself, Jackie Chan!!

GOOD LUCK MARIA TRAN!! I hope you succeed in meeting jackie Chan.

If you would like to check out Maria's project for yourself and/or give your support click the link: The Quest for Jackie Chan!

Dear Readers,

i have officially started my Design Foundations Cert 4 course for this year, and it's gonna be awesome! I'm in the same class as all my friends and i met a couple of new friends too! Yesterday i had my very first proper class on digital photography.
(below are some examples of me practicing using a digital camera)

At the moment i am working on:

This is one of my fav characters (Dark Mousy) played by my fav voice actor "Vic Mignogna". I am drawing this for an Otaku contest on DeviantART.

A new Speed Drawing Video

This is a drawing of one of my HOTD (high school of the dead) OCs (original character) shouting out, i think it took me around about and hour to finish it completely. I'm so proud with how it came out and so happy i had a chance to use my new brushes successfully. Before i started the drawing though, i thought maybe i should use it to create another speed drawing, seeing as i hadn't done another one in a while and i just feel that there's more to show of my drawing skills if i display them this way.

Well i hope you like what you see in the video and enjoy the music. Also i'll be sure to put more videos and drawings like these up on my blog and youttube account so feel free to follow and subscribe to me if you want to see more.
